Onno Boerwinkel (Middelburg, 1950) studied at the Rijks Academy in Amsterdam (1970-1975). The painter and
artist lives and works in Amsterdam and has had many successful exhibitions in museums and galleries both in
The Netherlands and abroad.
“For years, oil paint was a daily battle. To get it to dry
faster, the ‘bother’ of the paintbrushes, turpentine
and the imposing odour that you just cannot avoid.
No, I prefer pastel.What's there is there, it is
immediately dry and moreover, it's scentless, free
from unwelcome associations – therefore it's neutral.
Still, pastel is a very complex technique. But because
of the stratification which can be achieved, it's rich
in tone, texture and in the meantime, reliable.”
