Jan Verschoor (1943, Amsterdam) received his education from the Gooise Academy of Sculpture in Laren and the Rijks Academy in Amsterdam. Since 1972, he has exhibited his work in museums and galleries in The Netherlands and abroad.Verschoor has also been commissioned to do numerous monumental sculptures for companies and city council organisations
“It starts with an impulse, a vague idea. Suddenly, you give in to what your hands want to create. That’s how a ball, a circle, a loop or a chain come into being – shapes, that you try to give coherence. A figure is created. I don’t know where it comes from. Probably from nothing.”
